I am a busy performer and session singer as well as a vocal coach - I believe this is really important in a coach because unless you are performing and practicing yourself you can lose sight of the struggles that singers face.  After all, you wouldn't consider taking driving lessons from somebody who didn't drive!  I have performing experience in a wide range of styles which means I can advise clients from both a technical standpoint and from personal experience as a working singer and musician.

I was classically trained originally from the age of 8 and then branched out to specialise in jazz, blues and soul styles later on, with a heavy focus on improvisational techniques and expression.  I have a vast working knowledge of the American Songbook and other jazz standards that I am happy to pass on.  While this is now my speciality, my classical training is still very much present and I also have a large classical repertoire to draw from and share with you.  If you want to try singing in another language I can help you with Latin, Italian and German pronunciation.

I take pride in making sure my methods are anatomically accurate, safe, efficient and up-to-date. Our knowledge of the voice is changing all the time and in a profession that is largely unregulated, it is important to keep updating knowledge and training regularly. Understanding how your voice works physically is the most important step towards controlling and looking after it. I deliver this information in an accessible way that is not too 'sciencey'!

A session with me is simultaneously informal and focused. I strive to help you achieve your goals and reach your vocal potential safely, with full knowledge of how your voice works. This can be hard work but is ultimately rewarding and lots of fun! Sessions are 100% guided by you and what you want to achieve. It's important that you are clear about your inspiration and goals so that I can help you to meet them.
