•  How much does it cost?  One-to-one tuition is £30/hr.  If you wish to have tuition from your home then there will be an extra charge on top for my time and travel dependent on where you live.  Half-hourly lessons are available during off-peak times, especially for young children.

  • Do you teach more than one person at a time?   Yes, pricing for this varies on the nature of the work, please contact me for more details.

  • I have never had a singing lesson before.  What will happen?  Firstly, don't worry!  I understand the first time is a nerve-wracking experience for most people and will endeavour to make you feel at ease.  Usually during a first session we would start with a quick chat about you and why you have chosen to start lessons, from there I would lead you through a quick warm-up and start some exercises with you, introducing the main techniques along the way.

  • Do you also teach more experienced singers?  My teaching is by no means limited to beginners.  I am an experienced singer myself and have acquired advanced knowledge of the voice and the latest research concerning the voice and singing.  We all need a top-up from time to time - it always surprises me how many experienced singers are using poor, outdated technique.  If you use your voice a lot professionally or semi-professionally, it is well worth looking after it by seeking on-going training.

  • Can I just book one or do I have to commit to a block of lessons?  You are under no obligation whatsoever to book more than one lesson.  Most people book one to see how they get on and then go from there.  However, if you do decide that you want a block of lessons I offer a discount.

  • Do I need to bring anything?  Bring some water and, if possible, make sure you are wearing something comfortable (especially nothing too tight around the stomach/waist/chest).  Otherwise just bring along any ideas of what you would like to work on and any helpful CD's/sheet music you may have.

  • Do I have to practice?  If you want to improve then yes, practice is the only way to change bad habits, particularly with breathing.  Your practice is up to you though, I won't be telling you off!  If you want to make the most of your money and our time together though, set aside as little as 10 minutes a day and you will see results.

  • What happens if I can't attend a lesson?   If you have to cancel a lesson for whatever reason, I require a minimum of 24 hours notice.  Regretfully I can't make exeptions to this rule as it would be unfair.  Warning of 24 hours or more means I can book another singer in your place and avoid losing money on room hire so please let me know as soon as possible.  Less than 24 hours notice or none at all will incur the full fee.
